Feng Shui Color Suggestions and Their Meanings

Spring is this finally here!! Don’t you love all the colors spring brings?

I decided to paint my front door to welcome the new season. In Feng Shui, our front door is “the mouth of Chi” where energy enters. Each color has its own important aspect and its own vibration. What do you want this season? More love? Money? Career success?

Here are some color suggestions and their meaning:

Red — means welcome in Feng Shui. Red doors are an early American tradition in that tired travelers by horse and buggy would know they would be able to spend the night behind that red door. A recent study found that people who live behind red doors are the happiest. Red is a wonderful color for transformation.

Orange — is an optimistic energy color and social.

Yellow — behind a yellow door you will find a giving and community-oriented homeowner who are making a difference in the world. The energy of yellow is expansive and uplifting.

Purple — the most social of all colors, this color brings with it the energy of friendship, nobility, and dignity.

Green — behind the color green you will find health, harmony, safety, and abundance.

Blue — a calming energy, behind this color you will find a relaxing and serene home.

Black — black door owners are the most successful in their careers. This color brings in the energy of strength, sophistication, power, and authority.

And finally Pink — those of us bold enough to have a pink front door bring in a daring energy. We are said to have the most friends and perhaps are full of mischief. Pink is the color of love and romance.

The Year of the Horse and Your Feng Shui

Chinese New Year begins January 31, 2014, and lasts for 15 days! Chinese New Year’s Eve is a great time to honor your family and friends by displaying and serving “Lucky Food” at dinnertime. For Example: displaying and serving Oranges is said to bring wealth into the household (that’s because of the Chinese words for “Oranges” and “Gold” sound alike)!
We are entering the year of the wooden horse, a clear departure from the slower energy of the previous water snake year 2013.

The Wood Horse year is a time of fast victories, unexpected adventure, and surprising romance. It is an excellent year for travel, and the more far away and off the beaten path the better. Energy is high and production is rewarded. Decisive action, not procrastination, brings victory. But you have to act fast in a Horse year. If you are not 100% secure about a decision, then don’t do it. Events move so quickly in a Horse year that you don’t want to gallop off in the wrong direction.

12 Feng Shui New Year Tips!

The events that occur on New Years Day may have an impact on the rest of the year so be careful with your words, your deeds, what you eat and whom you greet.

  1. Don’t wash your hair or you will wash away any good luck for the new year
  2. Wear brand new clothes Wear the color red for joy and happiness.
  3. Don’t wear white or black as they are colors of mourning.
  4. Greet your relatives, neighbors, and friends and wish them well.
  5. Don’t greet people in mourning.
  6. Give red envelopes with lucky money to children and unmarried people.
  7. Don’t sweep the floor or clean or you may sweep away your luck.
  8. Don’t say the number “four” (which sounds like the Chinese word for death) Don’t mention death or tell ghost stories.
  9. Don’t cook.
  10. Don’t use knives or scissors or you may cut off fortune.
  11. Don’t lend money or you will be lending all year.
  12. Don’t borrow money.
