I am an Adjunct Professor of Mythology, a student of mystery, love, intimacy, rituals, and the vast acupuncture points on the earth I call sacred sites.
My travels, writing and teaching are inspired by the exploration of good questions, and by my relentless pursuit of wonder, meaning, purpose, and mystery.
I live my life in a way that is deep and freeing, I allow pain and grief to carve me into something more grateful, and I try to allow enough space to be rooted in curiosity, kindness, and love.
Michelle Cromer Bios
Michelle Cromer is the author of three books, including her bestselling book Exit Strategy: Thinking Outside the Box (Tarcher/Penguin), which was featured on CBS Sunday Morning. She is a speaker, host of the podcast Creating a Meaningful Life, and professor of mythology at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she teaches courses on Feng Shui, The Mythology and Archetype of the Goddess, and The Power and Purpose of Visiting Sacred Sites.
For more than two decades, Michelle has explored the intersection of mythology, spirituality, place, and personal transformation. Her work is guided by the belief that meaningful lives are shaped not only by the stories we tell, but by the homes we create, the bodies we inhabit, the spirit that guides us, and the ways we choose to engage with the world around us.
Her latest book, The Soul’s Compass: You Don’t Have to Go Far to Go Deep, is a transformational guide to the sacred landscapes of place, home, body, and spirit—helping readers navigate life’s crossroads and find their way back to themselves.
Blending ancient wisdom with modern application, Michelle invites readers to discover greater meaning, purpose, wonder, and connection—not in some faraway destination, but in the life they are already living.
Michelle grew up in Austin, Texas, and divides her time between El Paso, Texas, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she continues to write, teach, travel, and follow the call of curiosity, wonder, and adventure.

Michelle is the founder of Pink Crosses, a foundation whose purpose is to bring comfort and closure to the murdered girls’ families of Juarez, Mexico. She has a BA in finance and a BA in Religious Studies from Abilene Christian University, and an advanced studies in finance from New York University. Michelle grew up in Austin, Texas, and lives at the crossroads of Mexico, Texas and New Mexico in El Paso, where you can’t walk to the mailbox without stumbling into a mountain.
