Happy Year of the Yin Water Tiger!
The Chinese New Year is on Tuesday, February 1st. Also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is celebrated at the second new moon following the Winter Solstice. This festival marks the end of winter and the beginning of a long-awaited spring. According to the Chinese zodiac, 2022 is the Year of the Tiger, which is also the year 4794.
The Chinese Zodiac dates back to the Qin Dynasty over 2000 years ago and is rooted in a system of zoolatry (or animal worship). As the legend goes, the Jade Emperor challenged all the animals in the Kingdom to a “Great Race.” Whoever arrived at his palace first would win his favor. The Tiger was sure that he had the race in the bag but ended up placing third after the cunning Rat and workhorse Ox snuck in ahead of him. Thus, Tigers are extremely competitive people, known for their courage and ambition. Tigers are ambitious, but they’re also extremely generous with a drive to help others. Tigers want to win but they’re also always seeking justice.
So what does the Year of the Tiger have in store for us?
The mantra this year is Go Big or Go Home. Tigers are quick to action, so in 2022, be prepared for situations to change on a dime. Tempers flare; drama and excitement reign, and crazy dreams can become reality. This can apply to personal relationships, career developments, and, on a larger scale, political unrest or social revolution. While there can be great things that come out of a Tiger year and some zodiac signs may experience wonderful luck, others can easily get burned. There is no middle ground in the year of the Tiger.
Since 2022 will be the year of the Water Tiger, it will be a time of very strong, wild emotions. Water element year has the greatest connections to emotions and water is the strongest element. Even stronger than fire because it can go around any obstacle in its path and not lose its essential nature. So remember that if some roadblock happens to you this year. You will get past it.
This is the year to take the risk! You always wanted to be a chef? Learn to cook this year. You always wanted to be a writer? Take that writing class. Sometimes, however, emotional extremes can mean chaos, and some of the negative attributes that come with the Water element can be fear and indecisiveness.
No matter what animal of the Chinese Zodiac you identify with, the upcoming Year of the Tiger is for everyone. Anything is possible!
